Ambulances are being "ramped" outside St Vincent's Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital for almost 1500 hours a month combined, according to documents obtained by Richmond MLA Richard Wynne under Freedom of Information.
According to the documents, ambulances are ramped outside St Vincent's for 532 hours a month and Royal Melbourne Hospital for 945 hours.
Mr Wynne blamed state government cuts to the health budget. "Ambulance ramping is a symptom of a struggling health system, because overworked hospitals don't have the resources on hand to accept these patients," he said.
